Broadcasting & Media:

When Scotiabank bought the firm, I moved into broadcasting. I spent 10 years as business editor of CBC-TV, created the show Investors Online and then spent 5 years as on-air stocks editor at CNBC. Back in Canada, I spent six years at ROBtv (now BNN Bloomberg) and joined Sun New Network at its launch. I did media training for a while. For the past few years I've hosted a podcast called 'The Just Word '.

Outside stuff:

I'm the eldest of 12 children, a father of five, and Poppa to four. I golf, curl and ski. I coached hockey for 36 years, soccer for 14 and lacrosse for 13 - retiring as Head Coach of Queen's Women's Varsity Lacrosse after winning OUA Coach of the Year. I also served on the board of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation in Toronto.

And yes, I'm the guy with the 'stache!

pat's Story

The short version:

I started on the floor of the Toronto Stock Exchange, ran an options desk, became a vice president, then moved into TV for more than 3 decades to explain business to people who don't work in it.

Bay Street:

After Queen's University, where I earned two degrees (Phys-Ed and Math) I joined McLeod Young Weir as a phone clerk. I moved up to run the options trading desk, and spent a decade in retail and institutional sales. As a VP I helped take the firm to number three on the street.
